Unreal engine Tips and Tricks (and also blender now)

Tips, shortcuts, and UI reminders for unreal 5.6.1 or something idk the version. latest as of 12 11 2025

top of viewport options

Show: eye icon. Toggles visibility of lighting, objects, effects, grid, etc.

Transform: leftmost on top pane is actually an everything button, but others are options for transforming objects in the world. Left to right: select (Q), move (W), rotate (E), and scale (R).

Coordinates: globe icon.

Snapping: Magnet. Magnet icon has more settings in a dropdown. move, rotate, and scale are blue beside it. They can be toggled off (blue goes grey when clicked) or their snapping can be altered (e.g. move (grid with magnet) is currently at 10 (cm). change to 100 to set snapping to 1m increments.)

View: Labelled "Lit" with sphere icon when lit is selected, otherwise just the one next to show (eye icon). This changes how you view the game world as a developer, with options like lighting only, wireframe, and lit.

all tips from this video but it honestly looks easier to just go the c++ route than the weird blueprint route.
